The model execution on the real-time target is handled by the MDI-Server and the real-time runtime environment.
The system interactions are illustrated in the following diagrams.
Every model is running on a real-time target PC. The model data is accessible via MDI-Server.
The MDI-Server provides a network service and can be accessed via SCALE-RT Insight, SCALE-RT LabVIEW Library, SCALE-RT Windows DLL, scripting or local tools.
There is also a web server running on every target (see SCALE-RT Webinterface).
Models running on different real-time targets can exchange data in real-time via DSHM (distributed shared memory).
Usually only one model running on the real-time target should have access to IO hardware. Concurrent PCIe / PCI access is allowed only if this is supported by the CPU and chipset (see System Requirements).
